The COIL Foundation is working with the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (http://www.sfgmc.org) and the Tyler Clementi Foundation (tylerclementi.org) to commission a major work honoring the life of Tyler Clementi.
The work is named Tyler’s Suite, and will be a multimovement choral piece composed by world class composers gathered by composer Stephen Schwartz from a wide variety of musical styles. The unifying theme is Tyler’s life and love of music and the violin. The work will feature men’s chorus, solo violin and appropriate instrumental accompaniment (Full Overview of the Tyler’s Suite Project).
It will be in six movements, with a World Premiere targeted for Spring 2014 in San Francisco by the SFGMC, eventually performed by multiple choruses around the U.S. and Canada. All events, recordings, and future publications are intended to include a component to raise funds for the Tyler Clementi Foundation.
